    The Return of Tawiah

Earlier this year it was a pleasure being able to work with Tawiah again. I first started playing drums with Tawiah in 2007 and in following years we played shows around the UK and Europe which included support shows for Mark Ronson.

I look forward to recreating some of the most enjoyable experiences in my music career and taking them to the next level with Tawiah on her future live sets. Below is a blast from the past demonstrating the energy from the full live band.

Be sure to check out Tawiah's new website and show love.

    Riff Raff Make Tracks

Although it was only two years ago, this feels like a real blast from the past for me...

Riff Raff was a project/band I worked on whilst at uni, alongside Hideous Productions. The concept of a promo format was developed and was given the title "Riff Raff Make Tracks" Check out the trailer below where I appear as my alter ego, 'Princeton Augustus.'

We played a number of shows together which were all incredibly fun, intensified by the fact that we never really had many rehearsals, an example of this was for a studio recording we did of a track called So Long, Recorded at Ravensbourne.

I remember learning the song on the way in to do the session after Alex putting the song on repeat in his little, bright green Saxo that he also couriered me and my drums in.

This is how the Ravensbourne session turned out:

    Celebrating the Past

“It's always good to remember where you come from and celebrate it. To remember where you come from is part of where you're going.” - Anthony Burgess

With this in mind, I present to you where I was 5 years ago, in 2005 as the UK's Young Drummer of the Year. The below video shows me on one of my first solo TV performances at 16 years old. It was the first time that I really felt anyone was making a fuss over me as I remember Peter Werth and a bunch of other designers asking me to wear their clothes and stick their logo's on my bass drum as this was a great advertising opportunity for them.

I remember composing the track in my bedroom the night before the show and going into the BBC studios clutching this CD with one track that I had never actually ever played along to. Later that day discovering that there were no foldback monitors available until 5 mins before the live broadcast, meaning I wasn't going to be able to work out a routine or even test sound levels.

Following the success of this performance I was then invited to come back and play live on BBC Xchange, CBBC Level Up, News Round and BBC Radio 6. I formed a good relationship Richard Marson, who at that time was the Executive Producer and Editor in Chief of Blue Peter, he saw potential in me as a broadcaster and allowed me to come back to do work experience on a number of different shows.

In reflection, these experiences were the starting points of my interest in the fusion of music and multimedia through broadcast; Without them, I would not be The PSM, I am today and The PSM that I will be in the future.. I am The PSM.
